Urge the Energy Secretary and President Bush to be mindful of the legal and moral obligations that exist to clean up DOE's contaminated facilities. The tradeoff currently being proposed between weapons and cleanup programs is an unacceptable and appalling option. The Administration is poised to present the detailed DOE budget to Congress in April. We encourage you to call Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham (202) 586-6210 and ask him to re-submit a DOE environmental management budget proposal and work with President Bush to fulfill the nation's obligations to communities near DOE weapons sites.
