Tram Flap Surgery

Tony,
I need to share my experience with the tram flap for reconstruction of the breast. I had a double done in 2001, the most terrible mistake of my life. I have not had one day of pleasure without terrible discomfort since having this done. I have this awful pressure build up in my abdominal area daily if I stand on my feet for more than an hour. I just had to have a double hernia repair done in Sept. of 2006, which at this time the doctor enlarged the mesh hoping to relieve this pressure. It did not work and I am now not able to return to my job of 21 years, due to not being able to lift more than 5 pounds or stand for a long period of time. I can only go to a desk job and work for only 20 hours per week; this is the doctors order. I can't find a job to do, as I have no training in deskwork. I trained to work with the mentally handicapped. My life is a big mess; I stay extremely depressed all the time, due to consent pain and pressure. Some days you wonder if you can face it another day like the day before. Please advise if there are any answers to my problem. Also please ladies don't consider this as a way to have your breasts replaced. I promise you it will not be worth it. It is the most horrible thing in my life. I have no quality of life like before. I was a very active person, loved life. I loved my job and all my individuals.

Thanks,

Peggy Keel
