Ted thank-you for sending me a story on Janice, your wife, Hopefully this tragedy with her having had the implants will make one woman stop and think about putting these implants in.
In memory of Janice:
Janice E Schomaker
Born Janice E Tolles in Clio, Michigan USA on 21 April 1941
Moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1955 where she met Ted Schomaker at a roller rink in 1957. Janice was married to Ted on 19 April 1958.Then went to Cape Canaveral with Ted who was in the US Army working on the US missile range. After Ted's Army service we returned to the Saginaw area in November 1959. Our three sons were born in 1960, 1961, and 1962.
Janice was a party lady, and I was also. She felt self conscious about her lack of breasts, and wanted to look like the other women.
In 1971 we had a large windfall of money, and she finally got her wish. New breasts. We didn't just jump into having it done. We went to several different doctors for their opinion. We were assured by all that there were no problems associated with implants. Well about 1974 the problems started. First her legs would go numb for a short time in the morning when she got out of bed. Then respiratory, urinary tract, several bouts with pneumonia, and other problems. She was told by her doctor that it was all in her head, or a bad marriage. After several trips to local hospitals for various problems a doctor had her sent to the University of Michigan hospital where they were little help. She had been diagnosed as possibly having MS by a local Neurologist . For years we just rode it out as best we could trying all different types of medication. The symptoms just kept getting progressively worse. The last 10 years of her life she was paralyzed from her neck down, and needed continuous care. She always had a smile on her face, and seldom
complained. The last year she had trouble breathing, and suffered a seizure. She survived that, but was in the hospital for respiratory problems when we celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary in the hospital 19 April 2003 , and her 62nd birthday two days later. The following day she was supposed to come home, but had a severe seizure that morning, and died 2 May 2003 at 1:00 PM.
