HELEN Campbell had both breasts removed after cancerous growths were identified in 1983.

The 59-year-old from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, has suffered severe health problems since she had two Nagor implants inserted in 1988.

She said: "After the mastectomy I felt reasonably well and decided to get the implants put in five years later.

"I wanted to be able to take my son swimming but didn't feel confident enough to do it.

"Immediately after the implants were inserted I started to feel dreadful. I had chronic fatigue, constant flu symptoms and urinary infections."

"After I suffered a number of panic attacks I went to see my GP because I thought it had something to do with the implants.

"He wasn't very sympathetic though and I ended up giving all my details to the lawyer."

Mrs Campbell also confirmed she has yet to have the implants removed. She said: "I am far too frightened to have them taken out. I've seen far too many horror pictures of the after effects of operations to remove them."

When she was told of the warning letters sent to Biosil, she said: "The fact this company is being allowed to sell implants is shocking and frightening information.

"It is scandalous for the Government to give them a licence to make the things here when the US won't touch them. They should be banned."
