ctree@tnweb.comHi Ilena, I want to thank you for talking with me on the telephone a few days ago. If you would, please pass this on I would appreciate it.
I would like to take this time to thank each and every one that has dedicated so much of their time to SBI. God bless you all.
My name is Sherry and I am a newcomer to the group but and old timer to the disease and disorders of silicone. I was implanted in 1992 at the age of thirty six and I have been down the road called Doctor, only to find it was a dead end.
A few months ago looking for information on the net about ANA I stumbled upon a breast implant site. Since I have implants I was curious what ANA had to do with them. As I set there reading the symptoms I could hardly believe it myself. I could not believe how much this was covered up. I had told all my doctors I had SBI and they never said anything about illness. I thought since I had saline filled breast implant they were the new and approved ones. Yes I have all the aches and pains, fatigue, rashes, night sweats, canker sores, memory loss, hair loss and a Cholesterol reading of 420 an ANA 1/640 and I could go on and on.......
I have a capsule contracture of the left breast and it is extruding at the nipple. I have seen two PS in my area. They both said it was to dangerous to do the breast lift at the same time I have the implants removed. More than likely the PS said, "I would lose the left nipple because the skin was so thin and there was no breast tissue left in the breast because of the capsule". Both PS felt SBI were very safe and they did not cause women to be sick. I looked up the word "SAFE" in the webster dictionary (safe: free from harm or risk :unhurt:).
So if SBI are, quote safe why then is the implant coming out of my chest and tearing my skin? Why did the capsule eat my breast tissue? Why is the skin so thin I will lose my nipple? Is this what doctors call safe? So I called McGhan and I told them of the situation and ask, what are you going to do about this. McGhan's reply, "the breast implant did not cause capsule contracture your body did".
If the benefits of SBI out weigh the risk, then I ask what are the benefits? Thanks to the wonderful websites on SBI, I was able to find Dr. Susan Kolb in Atlanta, GA. I have an appointment to see her in two weeks. I spoke with her on the phone and she sounds very reassuring. Within this short time I am trying to take it all in. Some days seems to be overwhelming. I would love to hear from you all. If anyone in the Nashville Tennessee area has a support group or would like to start one I am very interested. e-mail
