To whom it may concern,
My name is John Winegardner and I am going to tell you a story on behalf of my wife,
Kum mi.She is about to undergo her ninth surgery in the past year. All for the same problem.
About 13 years ago when Kum mi was a young nieve girl, she had silicone injected into her breasts. Her breast sizes were different, 36 right side and 34 left. She was a dancer in a club in Korea trying to make money for her family. One night, while working, some members of the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) walked into her club and literally kidnapped her. They dragged her out of the club threw her into a van and drover her to base.
She was terrorized for several hours, she didnít know very much English and they were trying to make her sign some sort of confession even though she couldnít read it, but because her mother told her never to trust anyone, she refused to sign it. The OSI had taken her without telling her why, who they were, or where they were going. The whole ordeal was so terrifying to her she still has nightmares about it to this day. Some one should pay for this. That is no way to treat a human being.
Now back to the breast story. During her pregnancy, seven and ‡ years ago, her breasts grew to 44. Kum mi is only 5'4" and 110 pounds she got up to 178 pounds. 44 size breasts on that small frame is a bit much. She breast fed for 100 days. She went to the doctor to have her milk dried up because her breasts were so big. The doctor either gave her a shot or a pill she doesnít remember which to dry the milk. About two days later her breasts had dried flat. Not only the milk but the silicone, and she has been in severe pain ever since.
Last September (1998) she began what we thought was the end of her breast problem. She had surgery to remove the dry, hardened silicone from her breast and have saline implants put in. The procedure seemed to work but she had a lot of pain and there was still hard lumps of silicone in her breasts.
About two weeks after the surgery she developed an infection in her left breast. The puss literally exploded out all over the place. We went back to the hospital for emergency surgery to remove the implant and clean the infection. They sent us back to Korea with a hole where her left breast used to be. I had to pack it with gauze and wash it out with saline solution. It was very difficult for me and caused severe pain to Kum mi.
After four months of walking around with one breast and a hole where the other one she went back to the hospital to have another implant put in. After a one-day stay in the hospital it was back to Korea. One week later her left breast began to swell. It grew to 5-10 times its original size. It was up over her shoulder, around under her arm to her back, and down her arm. The pain was unbearable; she had trouble breathing and thought she was going to die. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Internal bleeding caused the swelling and there was a hole in the implant. Kum mi has since had four more surgeries to remove the silicone, which has spread through out most of her body. The doctors here are trying to remove as much of the silicone as they can, but they say that they can never remove all of it.
Right now she doesn't have the implants and is still in a lot of pain. This next surgery is to try to remove as much silicone as they can and relieve as much of her pain as they can, but they canít guarantee that they can. Kum mi wants her story told so that all of this doesnít ever happen to anyone else. She wants the world to know that they should live with the body God gave you and not alter it with cosmetic surgery. God has made each and every one of us in his own special way and we should be happy with what we have and be grateful. Please help Kum mi get her word out.
Thank you and God bless.
