The information includes a description of what consumers can get from different states and links to the websites of the states which currently provide information on individual physicians on the internet. On several states' websites, such as those of Florida and California, you can look up the malpractice payments made by individual physicians and get the actual dollar amount of the payment. A description of Florida malpractice actions can be obtained at no charge by a telephone request.

Also on the Health Care Choices website is physician disciplinary and other profiling information, such as education, from different states. Other information to help assess quality, such as the volume of breast cancer surgery done at individual hospitals and cardiac surgery outcome data from different states, and insurance information is available.
